ABOUT

SAAS is an outgrowth of my life-long passion for the visual arts and design and the many ways they intersect with civic, educational, commercial, and cultural matters. It is also a manifestation of my desire to connect with others who share these passions.

SAAS is built on three decades of hands-on experience and research into various aspects of the visual arts. Stints at the Museum of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Saint Louis Art Museum, Fisk University Galleries, the Georgia Museum of Art, Skidmore Owings & Merrill, and the Chicago Architecture Foundation form the foundation of my practice. I held appointments as a museum director, curator, and educator as well as a collegiate art history lecturer. In addition to these roles, I served on advisory committees at the Marwen Foundation, the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts, the Fisk University-Crystal Bridges Museum Partnership, and the Spencer Museum of Art. I also served a four-year term as a commissioner for the Metro Nashville Arts Commission.

Trained as a visual artist and art historian, I place a great deal of emphasis on research, connoisseurship, critical inquiry, relationships, and the value fine art brings to our lives daily. Through SAAS, I hope to enrich lives and forge meaningful relationships between individuals, communities, and cultures.
